In May of 1981, the Arts Magnet High School music department produced the 4th Annual Arrangers' Concert to feature new arrangements written by members of Curt Bradshaw's arranging classes. This was the first attempt at arranging for Katy Pybas, Kelly Dean, Byron Jones, and Ted Cruz. Three advanced arrangers Monya Davis, Joe d'Etienne, abd Tyron Smith are also represented on this album.
On our seven day tour to Minneapolis the band was acknowledged by standing ovations and audience enthusiasm that brought chills to the spine. We wish to thank all the band parents and the entire Dallas Community for their support in helping us attain our highest goals.
Dallas has been blessed with some of the greatest composers and arrangers in the world. Each year a "Best Arrangement" is selected by prestigious composers/arrangers from the Dallas metroplex. This year Fred Crane, Chuck Mandernach and Dave Robertson served as adjudicators. Congratulations to Tyrone Smith "Best Arrangement 1981," Don't Get Around Much Anymore.

What a special experience this AMHS Jazz Ensemble prokect was for us at January Sound! The entire group impressed us with a musical sophistication well beyond our expectations from a high school group. The industrious spirit and the desire to reach the excellence engendered by the dynamic director, Curt Bradshaw, permeates the ensemble. Note the outsanding musicianship of Tyrone Smith, Joe d'Etienne, Andrea Springer and Kimberly Cornell. Keep this record in your collection for future reference as several of these young people will grow professionally, gaining stature in their musical careers. Get ready for a treat!
